Roasted tenderstem broccoli is one of those vegetables that I dream about. Smothered in crispy garlic and shaved parmesan, this roasted broccoli dish is something you will never ever get tired of! Roasted tenderstem broccoli is also referred to as broccolini or baby broccoli is a mix between regular broccoli and Chinese broccoli. Tenderstem broccoli has a longer stem and a more tender florets that get very crispy when roasted in the oven!
This recipe uses a lot of garlic, that when left large and combined with salt and parmesan cheese makes for the most delicious crispy garlic topping to these roasted broccolini. I hope you give this dish a try and love it as much as I do!

How Long To Roast Tenderstem Broccoli?
Roasting time will depend on oven, cooking container, and how big your broccoli was to begin with. I usually roast my broccolini on 375F convection until the stems are starting to crisp and the florets are very crispy. This will take around 20 minutes.
The more spread out the broccoli is the, faster it will cook. If the vegetables are really crowded, they will actually steam in the oven and have a hard time getting crispy. I recommend spreading them out on a baking sheet as much as possible.
You can also turn the oven down to 350F if you do not have the convection function. The Tenderstem will roast for about 25 minutes in a normal oven.
What To Serve With Tenderstem Broccoli?
These roasted little broccolis are so versatile on when you can serve them with. My favorite way is to enjoy them next to white rice and my favorite protein. If you are looking to switch up the flavors of your roasted tenderstem there are a couple of additions that should get you inspired!
Fresh herbs is always my go to when trying to change the flavors of something. Fresh basil, rosemary, or thyme are all easily available and will definitely change the flavor.
Citrus is another easy addition that adds a lot of flavor! Lime, lemon, or even orange can be zested and juiced onto the roasted tenderstem as it comes out of the oven. The citrus will add a bright burst of acidity that will lighten up the dish.
Adding jalenpeno or other peppers will add spice and heat. You can also add dried chili powder or cayenne if you are a fan of spicy food.
Notes and Tips for Roasted Tenderstem Broccoli:
You can chop your tenderstem broccoli with kitchen scissors after it comes out of the oven. This is an easy way to get smaller pieces that are a little smoother to eat.
I do not recommend putting foil under the tenderstem broccoli. The cheese will stick to the foil and you will not get to enjoy the crispy parmesan that comes out of the oven!
Ingredients For Roasted Tenderstem Broccoli
Recipe: Serves 4
- 2 bunches tenderstem broccoli You can use broccoli, Chinese broccoli, or any broccolini you can find.
- 5 garlic cloves The chunky garlic has a ton of flavor. It will get golden and crispy in the oven.
- 3 Tbs olive oil You can use vegetable oil or even coconut oil too.
- **1/3 cup parmesan cheese ** Always keep extra cheese on hand for serving!
- **salt **to taste
- pepper to taste
How To Make Crispy Tenderstem Broccoli
Prepare the Broccoli and Garlic
Preheat the oven to 375F Convection or 350F
Wash and pat dry the broccoli. Add it to a baking sheet of choice.
Peel and lightly chop the garlic cloves. You want them to be bigger pieces that will not burn in the oven. Add the garlic to the baking sheet.
Drizzle with the olive oil, add a pinch of salt, and toss with your hands until the tenderstem broccoli is evenly coated.
Place in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the stems are wilted and the florets are crispy.
Add the Cheese
Remove from the oven and sprinkle or grate your cheese over the tenderstem broccoli.
Return to the oven and bake until the cheese is melted and beginning to crisp, about 4 minutes.
Remove and serve!
